Our Why:

The Veterans Legacy Fund was created following the success of The Wall That Heals exhibit in August 2025 in the Founding City of Veterans Day. Together our team welcomed more than 10,000 visitors and raised the funds needed to make this happen. During this process, our team discovered our community lacked a dedicated veterans fund to support future memorials, exhibits, and projects honoring those who served. From that vision our Veterans Legacy Fund moto was born: Honor The Past. Serve Today. Inspire The Future. We are committed to bringing meanful veteran exhibits and projects to our community while ensuring every veteran-past, present, and future are honored with pride and respect they deserve right here in The Founding City of Veterans Day!

Veterans Legacy Fund exists to honor our past, serve today, and inspire the future through unwavering support of veterans, patriotism, sacrifice, compassion, volunteerism, and community leadership. Our mission is to preserve the stories, service, and legacies of veterans while creating meaningful opportunities for communities to unite in remembrance, education, service, and patriotic pride. Through community events, memorial projects, youth engagement, and veteran-centered initiatives, we strive to ensure that the sacrifices made for our freedoms are never forgotten. We are committed to strengthening communities by encouraging future generations to embrace service, leadership, volunteerism, and love our country. Through our work, we not only honor those who served before us, but inspire countless Kansans to continue serving their communities and supporting veterans for years to come.

We will continue to build programs and partnerships that celebrate the spirit of America, recognize the sacrifices of our veterans and military families, and leave a lasting legacy for future generations.
