The Last Breath Still Waves the Flag

When a veteran takes their final breath,
Their service does not end.
For every sacrifice they carried,
Still lives within the wind.

The flag still waves in honor,
Red, white, and blue held high.
Because brave souls once stood for freedom,
Prepared to live or die.

Though their watch on earth has ended,
Their legacy remains.
In every fold of Old Glory,
Their courage still sustains.

So when you see the flag still flying,
Let grateful hearts recall—
It waves because our veterans

gave everything for all

⏱️09:30am to 10:30am Memorial Day

The All Veterans Memorial, established in 1991, honors the service and sacrifice of U.S. military members from the civil war through today. The Memorial is located in Emporia, Kansas – the founding city of Veterans Day – and is nestled in a beautiful setting on the Cottonwood River, near a waterfall and stone arch bridge. The grounds include a WWII Sherman tank, a Vietnam Huey helicopter, the anchor from the USS Oliver Hazard Perry, the USS Emporia bell, and a Purple Heart Memorial. The Tablets of Honor walkway weaves throughout the park, commemorating individual service members and highlighting key moments in U.S. military history, including the nation’s first memorial dedicated to Desert Storm. A special memorial remembers Sgt. Grant F. Timmerman, a Medal of Honor recipient who heroically gave his life to save his tank crew.

All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.

Every contribution helps support and preserve the legacy of The Founding City of Veterans Day in Emporia, Kansas.
